  • Stealing three of the golden apples of the Hesperides

    For his eleventh labor, Hercules was sent on a quest that seemed impossible: to retrieve the golden apples of the Hesperides. These were not ordinary fruits but divine, gleaming orbs that bestowed immortality, guarded by a hundred-headed dragon named Ladon, and kept in a garden at the world's edge, a place no mortal had ever reached. 

    The apples were a wedding gift from Gaia to Hera, and the garden was tended by the Hesperides, nymphs of the evening and the golden light of sunsets
